Villette

book intro by Becca
villette-by-charlotte-bronte-intro-by-becca.mp3

Today I’m gong to tell you about Villette by Charlotte Bronte. I liked this book because it is a classic romance novel. The book has so much detail that it helps me get a better understanding of what is going on in the story. Although it takes me a little longer to read because of the old English style of writing, the book is worth it. Most of Charlotte Bronte’s novels are based off her life experience, like Villette is based off her trip to Villette, France.

Could I, Can I?

Could I, Can I?

Could I, Would I mp3

I can make a difference by going green.
Our Earth needs me right now.
I can recycle,
Make a few posters,
Remind a few people.
Take the extra time it takes to drag it to the green bin.
Could I,
Can I,
I can,
But will I?

I can make a difference by saying “no”.
The only thing those drugs do is mess me up.
I can stick up for myself,
Hang with the right friends,
And not be afraid to walk away.
Do the right thing and refuse the drugs.
Could I,
Can I,
I can,
But will I?

I can make a difference by giving.
People out there need a cheerful present once in a while.
I can go to the homeless shelter,
Give a nice gift to someone who needs a smile,
Toss an apple to one on the curb.
Help out the people who need it more.
Could I,
Can I,
I can,
But will I?

I can make a difference by learning.
We are the generation of scholars.
I can pay extra attention in class,
Put in the extra hour,
Try harder than everyone else.
Learn something new and lay the foundation of my future.
Could I,
Can I,
I can,
But will I?

I can go green.
I can say “no”.
I can give,
I can learn.
I can help,
I can teach.
I can stop violence.
I can change the future.

I could.
I can.
But will I have the will?

Diary of a Wimpy Kid-by Jeff Kinney

Diary of a Wimpy Kid

Diary of a Wimpy Kid
 audio intro by Hannah

Today I’m going to tell you about a book called Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney. This is one of the funniest books that I have ever read! Greg Heffley, the main character, deals with all of the problems of a kid our age, but they are a whole lot more exaggerated! He has to deal with Christmas present problems, friend problems and so much more. If you look funny books, then you need to read this!

My Four Seasons

My Four Seasons

My Four Seasons.mp3

Where will I go?

I really don’t know.

Hey, clouds are passing by,

In that great turquoise sky.

I’ll stop to smell the flowers,

To find myself there for hours.

When I feel the spring breeze,

All the world seems to freeze.

Where will they go?

Summer vacation, I know!

For a while, you said, you’ll be gone,

But I won’t move on, above, or beyond,

As the oceans of my mind reflect the sky,

I think of the last time we said good-bye.

Where will we go?

Its autumn, you know!

The school bell will ring,

And you’ll be there, waiting for me.

I’ll forever be searching for peace -

Where willows weep,

And shadows sleep,

I always fear that I’ll be lost here,

But fear can erode, as I now know.

Where will you go?

The snow is not that cold,

Time is moving fast,

And this weather won’t last.

The branches of fall have begun to fray,

And I’m looking forward to this holiday!

Suddenly, the sky turned gray,

And this winter day,

Which had been bitter and chill,

Grew soft and still.

Too tired to care, I head for bed

Midnight approaches, the day is dead.

Wrapped around in a blanket so soft,

It brings back memories,

Of you and the seasons,

That will never be lost.

Animals in Charge

Animals in Charge

By Mitchell
Animals in Charge.Mp3

If kittens ruled the world,

our lives would be askew,

with roads all paved with catnip,

and yarn and mouse toys, too.

If canines were in charge,

things would begin to change,

the cats would have to leave the house,

we’d prob’ly all get mange.

If guinea-pigs took over,

The world would be a mess.

The squealing would be constant,

a melody for stress.

Rabbits? That’d go bad to worse!

The carrots would run low.

Although their tails would be quite cute,

they soon would have to go.

The world is great the way it is,

although that’s what they say,

it might not be a bad idea,

for me to rule one day.

What Autumn Means to Me

What Autumn Means to Me

By: Haylee

What Autumn Means to Me.Mp3

Autumn is something special to me,

Hearing the wind blow leaves off of trees,

Running everywhere, all around,

Listening to the leaves make a crunching sound.

Watching everything in nature change,

It happens so fast its almost strange!

Everyone’s inside baking cookies shaped like leaves

And hearing the birds’ last “tweet!”

Here we are, answering to door

To ghosts, ghouls, witches and more!

Giving out candy, watching kids walk the streets,

Listening to many, many “trick or treats!”

Having a big meal with family all ‘round,

Everyone’s eating, so there isn’t a sound.

With aunts, uncles, grandparents galore,

We’ve got every type of relative and more!

Everyone loves everyone, that’s why we’re tog ether,

Gathered around for memories to last us forever.

After the dinner, we’re all full of food,

So entirely full we’re in a different mood.

Sitting in school, hearing about the founders,

The Native Americans who helped out the plowers.

You might want to hurry, autumn will be over soon,

Its too late, it’s gone by, I was such a fool!

I didn’t capture the time I had, I’ve wasted it all along,

And now it’s already time to sing those Christmas carol songs.

Why?

April 9th, 2008 · Comments Off

Why?

Why poem mp3

Why do people make things complicated?

They can be so simple.

Why for some is life a “walk in the park?”

And for others like doing brain surgery?

Why isn’t life fair?

Or easy.

Why can’t people just listen to their heart?

Instead of “going with the flow”

Or being “cool”

Why is life a juggling game?

Is that what keeps life interesting?

Why can’t people accept others?

Or themselves.

Why can’t we be ok with the way life is?

Or will be?

Why are people so cruel to others?

Why can’t people relax and have fun?

WHY?

Factoring Trinomials

March 10th, 2008 · Comments Off

Factoring Trinomials mp3

Factoring Trinomials-intro by Wes

Example:
X+ 24x + 144          X•X=X2     12•12=144       12x•2=24x          (X+12)2

  1. You have to look if the first and last numbers have a perfect square.
  2. After that, you multiply that variable and the whole number and multiply it by two to see if it is a perfect square.
  3. Then you just put them into a binomial and square it.
  4. If it’s not, just factor it by using the guess and check method.
